About
Hello!I’ve always been about prioritising that feeling of genuine excitement and happiness I know people feel when they see art they love and feel so seen by. It could be a print, tattoo, sticker or even social media post, the message is always the same.
I grew up Australian-born Chinese, which means I spent a lot of my life in that specific gap between two cultures — not quite fluent enough in either to feel like I fully belonged to both. A lot of my work, especially the oriental illustrative pieces — the dragons, the tigers, the rivers, the peonies — came out of that. It's me trying to find a visual language for a part of myself that has forgotten how to speak it. I think that's also why clients who come from similar backgrounds keep finding their way to me. We're all trying to express something about who we are and putting it on your body permanently is one way of saying: this part of me is real and it matters.
The illustrative side of things came from somewhere different. I didn't have many friends around me growing up in the physical sense, but I found a whole community online through drawing so I found an appreciation for both the big, awe inspiring pieces and the smaller, sillier tidbits that gave the people around me a little giggle.
I don't have my own space yet, but I’m currently working out of Little Art Tattoo in Burwood. When you come to see me I won't put headphones on and pretend you're not there. Actually, I'll probably ask you too many questions about your life and then get genuinely invested in the answers.
I work to budgets, I'm easier to talk to than you're expecting, and I care a lot more about the outcome being right than about getting through the appointment quickly.
